My Weekly Training Programme
I realise I’ve been writing a lot about mindset, nutrition and so on but not a lot about training. So I thought I’d give you an insight to a week of my training programme.
Also, I often get asked (or taunted) about why I don’t join in the group training sessions. The answer, of course, is that if I did, I wouldn’t be able to keep my eyes on all of you. The second part of the answer is that my legs are generally battered after a session, or I’m trying to keep them fresh for the next session.
So here is a week of training that happened in mid-November. It is a real week. It was a perfect week. I need more of these kinds of weeks! With Christmas and house move out of the way, I really have no excuses! So anyway, back to my perfect week…
Sunday: The weekly training programme starts on a Sunday with a team track training session.
- 50m, 60m, 70m, 80m, 90m, 80m, 70m, 60m, and 50m. All at 85% and Rest 2 min.
Monday: Rest day. Busy coaching day with typically 5 or 6 sessions and more than 20k steps.
Tuesday: Track training with team
- 3 x 4 x 200m @76% with 2.5min rest between reps and 4 minutes between sets.
- Thankfully Coach Fred let us off after 2 sets.
Wednesday: Weights Programme 1 (see below)
Thursday: Track training with team
- 12 x 100m @90% with 3 min recovery
Friday: Rest. And actual restful day mostly working on my PC, writing blogs, programmes and other admin.
Saturday: Weights Programme 2 (see below)
And that’s it – back to Sunday…
