Frequently asked questions
We’ve included a few FAQs below but if you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, please get in touch with us here.
What is Melita about?
We work hard. But we also have a great time and don’t take ourselves too seriously.
You will work out with a small group of women. A typical class has 8-12 participants. Sessions are 45 minutes long and vary so you’re not always doing the same thing. But the focus is primarily building strength. And spoiler, there’s always plenty of squats and lunges.
We focus on strength because it’s really important – as we age we start to lose muscle mass. And muscle is key to enabling us to live full and active lives. Both now and in 20, 30 or 50 years!
We keep our classes small so that we can adapt the training to suit all levels of fitness. You will never be left behind or asked to perform dozens of burpees!
We know that for many women, the first step is the hardest. You might be worried that you are not fit enough, or you might know where to start, or you might worry about being judged. But this is where our brilliant community will support you. Because we all remember what it’s like to just be starting out. And we’re really proud of the community we’ve built. The Melita group is made up of women with something in common: we’re all taking the time to be the best version of ourselves but we find it easier to do that whilst having fun.
Our Melita community keeps everyone coming back. It provides accountability and is a wonderful reminder that you’re not the only one juggling family, work, life, relationships and self care too.
Many wonderful friendships are formed and last beyond the training sessions. We train hard but also have fun: nights out, retreats and more.
When do you train?
We have 10+ training sessions each week so you have flexibility over when to train. No pre-booking necessary!
There are a mixture of early morning (7:30am), morning (9:30am) and evening (7:30pm) sessions designed to fit in with your busy lifestyles.
Where do you train?
We train in Burpham Sutherland Park and at Newlands Corner.
How much does it cost?
Membership costs £59 per month for unlimited classes. Whilst we do ask our members to sign up to a direct debit, you are totally in control. There is no joining fee, no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Choose from 10+ training sessions each week so you have flexibility over when to train.
A once a week option is also available for £40/month. This includes up to 5 sessions per month and is ideal for anyone who is already doing some other form of exercise.
What if I'm not fit enough?
It’s a common concern – you’re not alone! The thing with our group is that we keep our numbers low, especially so that our trainers can get to know you. That way we are able to adapt the session to your needs – whether it’s a dodgy knee, or a lack of exercise over the last few years. We’re there to help and guide you on your individual journey…
And also, I can’t stress this enough, the community is everything. Everyone is really positive and supportive and there’s a real sense of being all in it together. We remember what it’s like to be the newcomer. And we all appreciate that we’re on our own journey.
I'm ready! How do I get started?

What do people say about Melita?
How many women are in a class?
We keep our classes small so that we can adapt the training to suit all levels of fitness. A typical class has 8-12 participants. You will never be left behind or asked to perform dozens of burpees!
How is Melita different from doing it myself?
Some people are great at motivating themselves, identifying their goals, figuring out an action plan and executing this plan. Consistently.
But the reality is that most people aren’t. Many people are confused about where to start, lack the knowledge to make good nutritional choices and find the sheer range of free workout options overwhelming. I mean, are carbs good or bad? Should I lift weights or do cardio? Won’t weights make me bulky?
So we cut through the clutter and give you simple, easy steps to follow. We’ll even become the voice inside your head that helps you get out of the door when you’re thinking it’s too cold, wet and miserable. Or whatever you need help with, to make sure that you just focus on executing these key steps.

What do Melita members say?
Melita Fitness is brilliant and Chris really knows her stuff. It’s a motivational group setting but a small class so everyone still gets the one one one attention that they need. The group is super welcoming, friendly and supportive too.
