Meet the Member – Catherine

Today we get to meet lovely Catherine. Always smiling. Always late!

Thank you Catherine for sharing this with us.

How long have you been a member?

I’ve been a member since Christmas 2017 when I escaped my in-laws at home, and got knackered in the fresh air. Haven’t looked back.

What do you like / hate most?

Like the most? Definitely the people. It feels like a social night out with your mates, not like a dreaded gym session.
Hate the most? Honestly nothing. Except being constantly late for the session.
Oh yes, and bloody froggies.
And the Sutherland mosquitos.
I should stop there.

What’s your biggest achievement? And biggest struggle?

Biggest achievement? Getting shoulder muscles and being able to do proper press ups! I’ve always been known as spaghetti arms. [Chris: Yes! They are super arms!]

Biggest challenge? Actually arriving on time (see above)

What’s been the biggest change you’ve experienced?

I didn’t realise that DOMs didn’t last. I’d never really done any strength work long enough to get past the phase of DOMs. However, I also didn’t realise how quick they’d come back after a two week summer holiday.

Any standout moments? Best / worst / funny moment?

Too many laughs to remember. But the 80s night will stay with me for a while. [Chris: OMG – that was petty much a year ago to the day!]

What do you wish you knew before starting out? Any advice for newbies?

Wish I’d known how much the community aspect would inspire me. It’s not just about the workouts or the exercise plan, I could get that at a gym. It’s about surrounding yourself with people that think *this* is normal 😆

Tell us something we don’t know about you!

My husband once won the “Husband of the Year” award. He still blames me for the cringeworthy photoshoot but I got to wear a Jenny Packham dress so I don’t care.
