I bought a new kettle!

I bought a new kettle a couple of weeks ago.

I know, right. This is the epitome of lockdown excitement. I’m writing about a new kettle. [cry]

But hear me out.

For years, literally, I had been annoyed at our old kettle. It worked ok – it heated water to boiling point.

But everything else was slightly problematic. It always spilled when pouring, no matter how carefully I tried. Sometimes the “on” switch didn’t stay down. So you’re there waiting for it to start working and it doesn’t. And the button to open the top needed to be jammed in a particular way in order to effing open.

Several times a day, I’d get annoyed at this bloomin kettle. But it was months before I did anything about it.

But once I finally did, the difference was extra-ordinary. And several days later, I still marvel at the “open” button that works, the ease with which it pours and the efficiency with which it heats!

And I’m kindof annoyed at myself for putting up with this shitty little kettle for so long.

Which got me thinking: where else in my life have I got shitty kettles? Where else do I need an upgrade? What else am I putting up with in my life that is sub-optimal?

(OK note – you can’t say “husband” here).

In fact, let’s think health and fitness. Here’s some of the things I hear my clients putting up with:

  • Feeling constantly fatigued
  • Struggling with bad sleep
  • Being stuck in a diet cycle
  • Brain fog
  • Achey joints

But in most cases we CAN do something to improve and break the sub-optimal cycle.  But it starts by acknowledging that something IS suboptimal and you need an investment – of time and / or money normally – to get an upgrade. And unfortunately we probably can’t Amazon Prime improvements to our health.

But you can improve your nutrition to get more energy or work with someone to break your diet cycle. Or maybe it’s seeing a therapist for your achey joints, or working on your fitness to get stronger.

Stop delaying.

You don’t have to put up with sub-optimal.

The difference could be life-changing!
