I’ve lost my training MOJO

I’ve lost my training MOJOIt’s been brewing for a bit really. The signs are easy to spot: missed training sessions, training sessions cut short and generally a feeling of fear and loathing before any training session. So I was sitting in the car outside the gym willing myself up and out. I’d already bailed on this session last Monday, when it was supposed to be scheduled, because of some lame excuse. And this was the last chance to catch up the session. But as I thought through my plan, there was not a single exercise I was looking forward to… I’ve really lost my mojo.

Progress not Perfection

Progress not PerfectionI’m sure you’ve heard me say things before. We should focus on progress not perfection. The problem with striving for Perfect is that it keeps us in a box. It keeps us from stepping out of our comfort zone and holds us in a pattern of living in the “when, then?” mindset. For example, “When I am 10 pounds thinner, then I will be happy.”  “When I make x pounds, then I will be successful.” You get the idea. It tells us that we’re not good enough yet, not strong enough yet, not beautiful enough yet…

Why everyone needs a coach in life…

Why everyone needs a coach in life…Last weekend I did a competition. It wasn’t very good. And after sulking a bit, I text my coach to update him. The conversation went like this:Me:  Disappointing day, not sure what’s going on…  [plus blah blah blah a million possible reason why I think I might have performed poorly]

There’s never a normal week

There’s never a normal weekThere’s one thing I’m becoming super clear on. There is never a normal week. There is never a straightforward stretch of time. In the 4 months so far of 2019, my training has been disrupted by a box jump incident, a car crash, Easter holidays and a large house project. Throughout these months I’ve been thinking… as soon as we get over this, it’ll get better. But it never does. There is never a ‘normal’ week.

How to Get Out of a Slump

As you may have heard at the time, I got hurt In January. A moment of distraction that turned into a horrible graze and big bump to my shins…It really angered me because I knew it would upset my training week. So I went home, festering in my bad mood. Ate a tonne of Doritos, and the kids’ chocolate. The next day, I was equally grumpy. Especially when I knocked it again.

The ONE thing you should be doing before starting a new Health and fitness Regime…

And I guarantee you’re not doing it…

It’s easy at this time of the year to hop onto another diet fad. Join the gym. Promise yourself this time it will work. Go keto, go vegan, do fasting, WW. Whatever. It sounds perfect. It promises results. So you sign up. This year it will be different.

But the one thing you should do before signing up to anything is talk to me. Cos I’m brilliant… *eye rolls emoticon* I’m kidding. Building suspense. Cos actually the ONE thing is so simple…

Get Started: Life Isn’t a Dress Rehearsal

Do you find yourself saying…”I’ll start x when y happens.”

I bet many of us are just now:

•   I’ll organise the house, once the kids are back at school…

•   I’ll start a fitness routine, once the kids are back at school…

•   I’ll lose weight, once the baby starts sleeping through the night.

Finding Your Why?….

Finding Your Why?….

How can I lose weight?

I’m asked this question, in some shape or form, a dozen times a day.

How can I be more healthy?

            How can I get fitter?

The answers to these “How” questions are really simple:
